The KF600 is a nifty slider equipped with a touch screen. What makes the KF600 nifty is that it comes with an InteractPad, a touch sensitive area located below the main screen that is context sensitive. This, in theory is a good idea because it allows the user to combine touch screen interactivity with the default keypad. Some phones only present one option to input data - the KF600 seems to be a marriage of two technologies. Looking good so far. Features-wise though, the KF600 doesn’t have smartphone functions so it is to be treated like a regular cellphone with MP3, video and call functions.

LG Venus (and yeah its pink on the bottom too)

Available in black or pink (odd, since the phone is two-tone, black and pink), The Venus LG is all elegance. The phone comes with two screens, a 2MP camera for photos and video, microSD expansion, and Bluetooth. If you are looking for something rather different from the usual Sony Ericsson and Nokia, LG dazzling Venus is a great option.

New Cellphone Review : LG KP200
New Cellphone Review : LG KP200
Introducing the KP200, the newest clamshell from LG. No, it’s not quite as expensive as LG’s other units, and no, it’s not part of any specialized brand series like Chocolate or Shine. Its still clothed in grey and silver though, popular LG colors. What can we say about this phone exactly?Well, while the phone might not be heavy on the wallet, it’s not exactly light on features either. It carries an FM Radio, polyphonic ringtones, a VGA camera with photo album and photo editor, Java, wallpapers which you can see displayed on a 65k color screen. With talk time lasting up to 2 hours and stand by time of about 200 hours max, I don’t think you could ask anymore of such a clamshell. Read More..

LG Electronics posts 2Q profit
LG Electronics Inc., South Korea's largest maker of consumer appliances and a major producer of cell phone handsets, said Thursday it swung to a profit in the second quarter on strong sales of appliances and premium mobile phones.
The company, who brands include the Chocolate and Shine mobile phones, earned 385 billion won ($420 million) in the three months ended June 30 in contrast to a loss of 9.7 billion won a year ago.
Total sales rose 1.7 percent to 5.9 trillion won ($6.4 billion) from 5.80 trillion won a year ago. On a consolidated basis, which includes performance overseas subsidiaries, LG had sales of 10.4 trillion won ($11.3 billion), 12.6 percent higher than the previous year.
Handset sales rose 27 percent to 2.7 trillion won ($2.9 billion) from a year ago. LG shipped a record 19.1 million phones in the quarter for a total of 34.9 million in the first half.
LG said it sold 12 million of its Chocolate phones in the quarter and 2.5 million of the Shine. The company does not disclose sales figures for its Prada phone, produced in partnership with the Italian fashion brand.
The company, the world's fifth-biggest handset maker, said its operating profit margin of 11.6 percent in its cell phone division was an all-time high.
"There was pretty much growth in every segment," said Steve Oh, a technology analyst at Deutsche Bank Securities, referring to LG's handsets offered in wireless technologies CDMA, GSM and WCDMA.
CDMA, or code division multiple access, is used in the United States and South Korea. It is a rival standard to the dominant GSM, or global system for mobile communications, used widely in Europe. WCDMA, or wideband CDMA, is the most highly developed in terms of data transmission.
LG's Shine phone stood out in CDMA and GSM, Oh said, while the Chocolate was a hot seller in the WCDMA format.
The Prada had yet to have much of an impact on LG's bottom line, but would likely play a bigger role in the second half of the year, he said.
LG launched the Prada earlier this year. It features a no-button interface with the front covered by a touch-sensitive screen resembling the Apple iPhone.
Sales of home appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines also gained, rising 21.4 percent on year to 3.6 trillion won ($3.9 billion).
Sales of digital displays, mostly televisions and computer monitors, declined 2.1 percent from the previous year to 2.7 trillion won ($2.9 billion).
The net profit was better than expected. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires forecast that the company would post a net profit of 236.5 billion won ($257.8 million).
Shares in LG, which released the earnings toward the end of the session, finished 1.7 percent higher at 73,800 won ($81)

LG, Samsung Lead In Mobile TV Phones In U.S.
South Korean handset makers LG Electronics and Samsung are the top mobile-phone brands in the United States for advanced entertainment features, while Nokia is at the bottom, a consumer electronics researcher said.
In a survey of 2,000 Internet users aged 13 and older, Parks Associates found that 12% reported having mobile TV features on LG phones, and 11% on Samsung handsets. Fully, 8% of the respondents had Motorola phones with advanced entertainment features, and no one had Nokia products with the same capabilities.
LG and Samsung have been successful in drawing from their experiences in the South Korean market and translating them into success in the U.S. market, Parks analyst Yuanzhe Cai said. South Korea leads the world in adoption of mobile entertainment features and services.
In addition, LG and Samsung have done a good job in balancing good designs and advanced features with reasonable costs, Cai said. Motorola, on the other hand, has been less successful.
Nokia, however, has done little to promote its advanced phones in the United States, according to Cai. For example, only 6% of the Finnish company's phones support the purchase of music online, compared with 22% and 20% for LG and Samsung, respectively.
"Nokia needs to introduce more advanced phone models if it is to succeed in the high-end and midrange markets," Cai said in a statement released Thursday. "The challenge is even more acute now that the Apple iPhone is stirring up competition in the premium handset market."
Launched at the end of last month, the iPhone, with its innovative touch-screen user interface, has increased consumer interest in the use of advanced cellular phones for accessing the Web, storing and watching video, and listening to music. As a result, experts believe rivals will have to push harder to develop their own innovative designs.
New data suggests that consumers are warming up to the idea of watching TV programming on the small screen of a mobile phone. Between 60% and 85% of people who have seen video on a handset have enjoyed the experience, according to Research and Markets.

Youtube, SKorea's LG agree to develop mobile phone
South Korea's LG Electronics said Tuesday it has signed an agrement with YouTube, the world's biggest video-sharing website, to develop a mobile phone which can operate the service.
LG Electronics said the proposed model will enable users to upload, view and share video clips or user-created content (UCC) online freely without using computers.
"LG Electronics will unveil the mobile handset that fully supports the YouTube service for the first time in Europe in the second half of this year," the South Korean firm said in a statement.
YouTube is the world's most popular online video-sharing website (www.youtube.com) where computer users can upload, view and share video clips.
Industry data shows YouTube has some 70,000 UCCs posted and more than 100 million people logging on to its website every day.
LG Electronics, the world's fifth-largest mobile phone manufacturer, is also stepping up its partnership with Google, the world's largest Internet serach engine which owns YouTube.
It began selling third-generation (3G) handsets called "Google phones" with software installed for directly using the Google service, in Europe last month.
The phone offers one-click access to Google's search engine as well as Google maps and Gmail.
Google acquired YouTube late last year for 1.65 billion dollars to strengthen its video-linked online advertisement business.
