This lipstick-shaped device is the BH-803, which I believe officially clocks in as Nokia's Most Expensive Headset. Not counting Vertu, of course.
The BH-803 is a super-light Bluetooth headset that also features an onboard DSP (digital signal processor). The DSP is supposed to remove background noises like car engines, as well as echoes in smaller environs.
At 11.3 grams (0.4 ounces), the BH-803 weighs less than a single potato chip. Or even less than half a potato chip, if you eat Pringles. (I just checked)
But it's mainly the looks (and the weight) that make this headset so darn expensive. Nokia even refers to the BH-803 as a "premium Nokia design headset" - and you know what that means. Just how expensive is it? Try 140-160 Euros, which is about $188-$215 US dollars. That'll buy you a lot of Pringles.
Nokia's press release unfortunately did not highlight the talk time or standby time of this headset, which leaves me with a bad feeling - just how big of a battery can you possibly fit into a headset that's so small?
You can expect the BH-803 to hit the world sometime around the third quarter of 2007. Until then, you'll have to make do with non-premium headsets.
